This splendid Kilim, originating from Afghanistan, is a textile work of art that embodies centuries of tradition and craftsmanship. Made with hand-carded wool, it features a flatweave that highlights the quality of the materials and the artisanal care. The warp is cotton, ensuring robustness and durability.
The design is characterized by a succession of geometric diamonds, interconnected in an all-over pattern. Within each diamond, complex tribal designs unfold, rich in symbolism and history. The color palette is vibrant and captivating, with shades of coral red, turquoise blue, ocher yellow, sage green, and hints of mauve, all on an ivory/cream background. The "abrash" effect adds depth and authenticity, testifying to the artisanal nature of the dyeing process.
With a density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of just 0.3 cm, this Kilim is an example of lightness and resistance, perfect for adding a touch of warmth and personality to any room, from the living room to the bedroom, or even as a runner in a hallway. A unique piece that tells stories of distant lands.
