This splendid Shiraz rug, originating from the nomadic tribes of Persia, is a living testament to the ancient art of weaving. Each knot tells a story, each color evokes the energy and spirituality of distant lands. Its beauty lies in the combination of robustness and artisanal finesse, a legacy of generations of master weavers.
The rug features a large central diamond-shaped medallion, in a deep navy blue, enclosing a traditional symbol, set against a vibrant and intense red field. This field is skillfully decorated with a myriad of geometric and stylized tribal motifs, including animals, plants, and amulets, distributed with a grace that reflects the creative freedom of nomadic peoples. The intense contrast between the red of the field and the dark blue of the medallion and corners creates a striking visual impact. The inner border, in white or cream, and the outer border, in red, are adorned with minute and repeated geometric designs, completing the harmony of the rug. One can observe the abrash, the slight variations in tone that are a distinctive signature of hand-knotted rugs with natural dyes, adding character and authenticity.
Crafted from high-quality hand-carded wool for the pile and a sturdy cotton warp, this Shiraz rug ensures exceptional durability and unmistakable softness underfoot. With a density ranging between 160,000 and 200,000 knots per square meter and a thickness of approximately 1 cm, it offers a solid texture and wear resistance that makes it ideal for any home environment. It is a piece that not only decorates but also instills warmth and a sense of history into every room.
