Immerse yourself in the rich Persian artisanal tradition with this extraordinary Shiraz runner, a rug that tells stories of nomadic peoples through its vibrant and symbolic motifs. Originating from the Shiraz region of Persia, this piece is an authentic expression of the textile art of the Qashqai and Khamseh tribes, renowned for their mastery in wool processing and their distinctive designs.
The field, an intense brick red, is dominated by a sequence of three large, stepped, polygonal medallions, richly decorated. The brighter central medallion captures attention with its stylized forms reminiscent of the tree of life and bird figures, while the upper and lower medallions, in darker shades of red and brown, also display complex geometries and stylized animal motifs. The abrash effect, visible in the natural color variations of the wool, adds depth and authenticity, attesting to vegetable dyeing and hand weaving.
The field is scattered with an all-over design of small, stylized figures: men, women, animals (camels, waterfowl, quadrupeds), trees of life, and other geometric symbols, each a good luck charm or a reference to pastoral life and ancestral beliefs. The main border, against a light cream background, is adorned with a succession of stylized floral and geometric motifs, enclosed by secondary bands featuring an arrow pattern on a dark blue ground, creating a captivating visual contrast.
Made with hand-carded wool, knotted on a cotton warp, this runner possesses a robustness and density of approximately 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm, ensuring its durability and softness to the touch. It is a piece that not only furnishes but also infuses an atmosphere of warmth and history into any room, perfect for hallways or for adding a touch of exoticism and tradition to modern spaces.
