This magnificent Shiraz rug is an authentic expression of Persian nomadic art, originating from the Fars region. Each piece is skillfully woven using hand-carded wool, ensuring a robust weave and unparalleled softness to the touch. The cotton warp provides stability and durability over time, while the high knot density (160,000-200,000 knots/sqm) testifies to the exceptional attention to detail.
The central field, a vibrant scarlet red, immediately captures attention, serving as a backdrop for an explosion of traditional motifs. Three large rhomboid medallions dominate the scene, flanked by corners that echo the deep blue or anthracite grey tones. The field is enriched with a myriad of small, stylized figurative motifs, representing animals, birds, and elements of nature, imbued with symbolism. The "abrash" effect present in some areas highlights the use of natural dyes and artisanal skill, imbuing the rug with a unique soul and fascinating chromatic depth.
With its thickness of 1 cm, this Shiraz offers a feeling of robustness and warmth underfoot. Its color palette, with red, blue, and cream as primary tones, makes it incredibly versatile, capable of harmonizing with both classic and more modern environments, adding a touch of exotic elegance. It is a textile work of art that not only decorates but tells stories of an ancient tradition, destined to be handed down from generation to generation.
