This textile masterpiece is an authentic Shiraz rug, originating from the rich artisanal tradition of Persia. Crafted with hand-carded wool for the pile and a cotton warp, it embodies the robustness and beauty of nomadic rugs from southern Persia.
The design features a magnificent fiery red central field, animated by a series of three concentric lozenge-shaped medallions, predominantly black with white, beige, and ochre details, which immediately capture attention. Each medallion is rich with geometric and stylized motifs, including stars and small diamonds. The main field is densely populated by a myriad of small tribal and stylized floral motifs, reminiscent of birds, trees of life, and protective amulets, all woven with care and passion.
The darker outer border elegantly frames the field, showcasing zigzag geometric patterns and friezes. The skillful use of abrash (natural color variations in the wool) adds depth and character to the rug, attesting to its authentic origin and natural dyeing of the yarns. With a density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of approximately 1 cm, this Shiraz is not just a decorative item, but a piece of Persian history, ideal for those seeking a warm and inviting atmosphere with a touch of exoticism.
