This magnificent Shiraz rug, originating from ancient Persia, is a textile work of art that embodies centuries of tradition and artisanal skill. Made with hand-carded wool, it features a robust structure with a cotton warp. Its knot density, ranging between 160,000 and 200,000 knots/sqm, and a thickness of approximately 1 cm, attest to its high quality and durability.
The design is dominated by a large central field in a diamond shape, characterized by a vibrant ruby red color, which displays a slight abrash, a distinctive sign of hand-knotted tribal rugs. The central diamond is framed by dark, almost black corners, creating a strong visual contrast. At its center, an elaborate polygonal medallion stands out, enriched with geometric and stylized motifs in shades of cream, gold, and petrol blue.
The field is dotted with a myriad of small decorative elements: stylized rosettes, flowers, and subtly hinted animal figures, particularly birds and deer in the darker corners. The main border, with a cream background, encloses geometric star and diamond motifs, flanked by thinner secondary borders with serrated and floral patterns. This rug is a striking addition to any environment, bringing with it the cultural richness and timeless elegance of Persian tradition.
