This magnificent Moud rug, originating from Persia, is a sublime expression of traditional knotting art. Crafted with hand-carded wool, featuring a cotton warp, it offers a rich texture and exceptional durability. Its high density, estimated between 160,000 and 200,000 knots per square meter, attests to the precision and skill of the weavers who created it.
The design is dominated by a majestic central lozenge medallion, distinguished by a vibrant, intense red color that immediately catches the eye. This medallion is finely detailed with intricate volutes and minute floral motifs on a lighter background, creating a captivating contrast. At the corners of the field, four complementary spandrels echo elements of the medallion, balancing the composition.
The main field of the rug is a triumph of floral motifs distributed in an all-over pattern, where small flowers, stylized palmettes, and delicate flowering branches intertwine harmoniously. The background color of the field is a deep navy blue or dark burgundy, enriched with touches of cream, ivory, pink, and sky blue that bring the entire surface to life.
The frame consists of numerous decorative bands, including a prominent wide main border in a soft sky blue, adorned with an elegant design of floral volutes and boteh (the traditional paisley motif), flanked by narrow secondary borders with stylized geometric and floral patterns that enhance its complexity and refinement. With a thickness of 1.4 cm, this rug is not just a decorative item but a true masterpiece of craftsmanship that will add warmth and prestige to any interior.
