This textile masterpiece is a magnificent example of a Kashan rug, originating from historical Persia. Renowned for their excellent craftsmanship and rich detailing, Kashan rugs are among the most esteemed Persian carpets worldwide. This particular piece has been skillfully hand-knotted using high-quality hand-carded wool, with a cotton warp, ensuring durability and an extraordinary softness to the touch.
The design is an ode to Persian tradition, featuring an elaborate central medallion that stands out elegantly against a deep navy blue field. Around the medallion and across the entire field, an intricate floral design unfolds, composed of blossoms, vines, and stylized leaves, creating an effect of great depth and vibrancy. The corner spandrels echo the medallion's motif, completing the compositional harmony.
The main border, in a rich burgundy red, is also densely decorated with floral motifs and cartouches, elegantly framing the rug and defining its contours. The color palette is dominated by navy blue and red, enriched by touches of cream, light blue, and ochre that enhance its complexity and refinement. The presence of abrash (slight color variations due to the natural dyeing of the wool) adds further charm and authenticity to the piece.
With a density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of 1.2 cm, this Kashan rug is not just a furnishing item but a piece of history and craftsmanship that will enhance any setting, bestowing an atmosphere of timeless luxury and tradition.
