This magnificent Shiraz rug originates from the nomadic tribes of Persia, carrying with it the history and traditions of an ancient art. Each knot is a story, a testament to the skill and creativity of the weavers.
The main field, a deep and vibrant red, serves as the stage for a rich repertoire of tribal motifs. At its center, a large diamond-shaped medallion in dark blue stands out, elegantly outlined and filled with stylized geometric and floral details. In the four corners, similar elements echo the central medallion's shape, creating a sense of balance and depth.
The rug's surface is enlivened by an all-over design that includes stylized figures of animals (birds, goats, or horses), floral motifs, and geometric symbols, all set against the dominant red. The color palette is enriched with touches of cream white, yellow, green, light blue, and orange, adding vibrancy to the details. Slight color variations, known as abrash, are noticeable, a distinctive sign of hand-knotted rugs with naturally dyed wools.
The main border, in deep dark blue, is decorated with a sequence of geometric diamond and octagon motifs, flanked by narrower guard borders with "S" patterns and wolf's tooth motifs, which beautifully frame the rug.
Made entirely with hand-carded wool for the pile and a sturdy cotton warp, this Shiraz exemplifies exceptional craftsmanship. The knot density, ranging between 160,000 and 200,000 knots per square meter, gives the rug remarkable robustness and durability, ensuring its beauty over time. With a thickness of approximately 1 cm, it offers a pleasant feeling underfoot.
A work of art that adds warmth, history, and a touch of exoticism to any setting, from traditional homes to contemporary designs.
