This magnificent Ardakan rug, hailing from ancient Persia, is an authentic work of textile art that embodies centuries of tradition and artisanal skill. Hand-knotted with high-quality hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, it boasts a high density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm, ensuring its durability and the fineness of its details. The 1 cm thickness provides a pleasant feel underfoot.
The design features a majestic poly-lobed central medallion that dominates the vibrant red field, a color that evokes passion and vitality. The medallion is richly decorated with stylized floral motifs, primarily in blue, ivory, and black, creating a strong visual contrast. The field is densely populated with an all-over design of small floral motifs, including palmettes, lotus flowers, and delicate tendrils, which gracefully intertwine.
The inner field's frame, in a midnight blue color, echoes floral elements. The wide main border, also in dark blue, is adorned with a continuous series of cartouches and stylized flowers, framed by slender secondary borders that add depth and complexity to the design. The skillful use of color, with shades of red, blue, ivory, and accents of yellow and green, gives the rug a harmonious and refined appearance, enhanced by a slight abrash effect that testifies to its authenticity and artisanal craftsmanship.
An Ardakan rug like this is ideal for enriching classic interiors or for adding a touch of oriental elegance to more modern spaces, creating a striking focal point and a warm, inviting atmosphere.
