A magnificent example of a Sarough rug, originating from the renowned region of Persia. This piece embodies the elegance and complexity of Persian textile art, distinguished by its central medallion design and rich floral motifs.
The main field, in a deep night blue, is entirely covered by an intricate all-over design of vases, palmettes, and arabesques, woven with extraordinary precision. A large lobed medallion stands out in the center, with vibrant shades of red, beige, and light blue, repeated in the spandrel-shaped corners. The main border, in a warm brick red, features cartouches and sinuous floral vines, elegantly framing the central field.
Crafted from hand-carded wool, with a cotton warp, this rug boasts a remarkable density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of 1.2 cm, ensuring softness and durability. The presence of slight color variations, known as abrash, testifies to the use of natural dyes and the artisanal authenticity of a timeless work, capable of enriching any environment with its history and charm.
