This magnificent Ardakan rug, originating from Persia, is an authentic textile work of art that embodies centuries of tradition and artisanal mastery. Hand-knotted with hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, it features a density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of approximately 1 cm, which gives it robustness and an unparalleled softness to the touch.
The design is dominated by a large, multilobed central medallion, beautifully adorned with stylized floral motifs in shades of blue, beige, and ocher, which stands out vividly against the main field of an intense cardinal red. The medallion is surrounded by an all-over design of flowering vines, palmettes, and rosettes, extending harmoniously to the corners, where the medallion's elegant spandrels are located.
The rug's border is composed of several bands, with the main border showcasing a deep midnight blue, enriched by an intricate succession of stylized floral and vegetal motifs. This chromatic and pattern combination creates a sophisticated contrast and visual depth that captures attention. The exceptional quality of the materials and the richness of the design make this Ardakan an ideal piece to enrich classic environments or to add a touch of opulence and history to modern interiors.
