This magnificent Kilim of Afghan origin is an authentic textile work of art, crafted using the traditional flat-weave technique. Its design is dominated by a vibrant all-over pattern composed of large geometric diamonds, each containing smaller, detailed motifs. The color palette within the diamonds is extremely rich and varied, with shades of red, orange, green, light blue, pink, and cream, creating a dynamic and captivating visual effect. These natural color variations, typical of hand-dyed wool, give it a unique character, often referred to as 'abrash'.
The central field is framed by a wide border of an intense sky blue, enriched with rows of small stylized floral or diamond-shaped motifs in a myriad of coordinated colors. This border not only defines the space but also adds depth and harmony to the entire composition.
Made from hand-carded wool for the pile and cotton for the warp, this Kilim is not only beautiful to behold but also robust and durable. Its density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of only 0.3 cm make it light and versatile, perfect for adding a touch of color and tradition to any setting, from the living room to the bedroom, or even as a wide runner in a hallway. A piece that tells stories of craftsmanship and culture.
