This Afghan kilim, crafted from hand-carded wool with a cotton warp, is a vivid expression of the nomadic tribes' textile art. Originating from Afghanistan, it is an exquisite example of flatweave, characterized by exceptional durability and lightness.
The all-over design is dominated by a series of interconnected diamonds, arranged in a dynamic multi-colored pattern. Shades of red, orange, and beige harmoniously blend with accents of blue, green, and yellow, creating a vibrant visual effect. The abrash, the slight variation in color tone due to the artisanal dyeing of the wool, gives each kilim a unique and authentic character. The border features repeated hexagonal motifs on a beige field, elegantly framing the central design.
With a density of approximately 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of 0.3 cm, this kilim is not just a rug, but a piece of history and culture, capable of bringing warmth and an ethnic touch to any setting.
