This splendid Afghan kilim is a textile work of art that combines the ancient tradition of hand-weaving with a contemporary and vibrant design. Kilims, flat-woven rugs originating from Central Asia, are appreciated for their lightness, durability, and culturally rich patterns.
The central field features a series of repeated geometric and abstract motifs, arranged in an ordered yet dynamic pattern. These designs are executed in a palette of vivid colors including reds, oranges, yellows, greens, blues, turquoises, and grays, all on a bright cream background that enhances their brilliance. The border, also geometric, frames the field with a sequence of multicoloured rhombuses and triangles, creating a harmonious contrast and an attractive visual effect. Slight color variations, known as abrash, are noticeable, bearing witness to the use of natural dyes and the authenticity of the artisanal weaving process.
Made with high-quality hand-carded wool and a cotton warp, this kilim boasts a density of 160,000-200,000 knots per square meter, a remarkable figure that, for a flat-woven rug, indicates exceptional compactness and sturdiness. With a thickness of just 0.3 cm, it is an extremely versatile rug, ideal for high-traffic areas or for layering over other carpets, adding warmth and personality without making the room feel heavy.
Perfect for bringing a touch of color and an ethnic, boho-chic atmosphere to any space, from the living room to the bedroom, or entryway. A textile piece that tells millennial stories through its vibrant aesthetic.
