This splendid Kilim of Afghan origin is a true masterpiece of textile art, skillfully woven using hand-carded wool, with a cotton warp to ensure stability and durability. Its thin weave, typical of kilims, makes it ideal for adding a touch of color and character without visually weighing down the room.
The rug features a rich and lively design, characterized by geometric and tribal motifs arranged in horizontal bands that create a dynamic visual effect. At the center, a stylized medallion is surrounded by a myriad of diamonds, hexagons, and stylized figures in a palette ranging from intense reds to deep blues, mint greens to sunny yellows, enriched with orange, purple, and cream shades. The use of hand-carded wool gives the artifact a fascinating color variation, known as abrash, which enhances the authenticity and artisanal charm of each piece.
With an estimated density of between 160,000 and 200,000 'knots' per square meter (although kilims are flatweave, this data indicates the complexity of the weaving), this kilim is not only beautiful to behold but also resistant and durable. Its thickness of just 0.3 cm makes it versatile, perfect for placement in a living room, bedroom, or study, bringing a warm and inviting atmosphere to any space. An investment that furnishes with history and culture.
