This exquisite Tabriz rug is an authentic expression of ancient Persian knotting art. Originating from the renowned city of Tabriz in Persia, it stands out for its exceptional quality and the richness of its design.
The rug's heart is dominated by a majestic star-shaped central medallion, finely crafted with floral details and palmette motifs in shades of cream, gold, and blue. This medallion is the focal point of an all-over floral design that extends across the entire crimson red background. The field is densely populated with an infinite array of botanical motifs, including delicate leaves, stylized blossoms, buds, and the iconic "boteh" (or paisley) motif, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a lush Persian garden.
The rich polychromy of the rug is another distinctive element. The vibrant crimson red of the main field is skillfully balanced by lighter tones of cream and ivory that define the medallion and corners, and by accents of navy blue, gold, and olive green that enliven the floral details. The border, composed of multiple bands, echoes and elaborates on the field's motifs, with cartouches and rosettes elegantly framing the central design.
Crafted from hand-carded wool, this Tabriz boasts a remarkable knot density, estimated between 160,000 and 200,000 knots per square meter, a testament to its high artisanal skill. The cotton warp ensures stability and durability, while its thickness of approximately 1 cm contributes to its robustness and comfort. A rug that is not just a piece of furniture, but a true investment in art and tradition.
