This magnificent Persian rug, likely originating from Shiraz, is a true gem of tribal craftsmanship. Characterized by a vibrant color combination and a design rich in symbolism, it is a striking addition to any environment.
The central field, in a deep and warm red, is dominated by a geometric polygonal medallion that immediately draws the eye. This medallion is outlined in intense black and enriched with stylized floral and leaf motifs, executed with great precision. The spandrels (field corners) echo the shape of the central medallion, creating a sense of harmony and continuity in the design. Around the medallion, the red field is dotted with numerous secondary motifs, including stylized birds and abstract figures, narrating stories of life and nature.
The chromatic palette is typical of tribal rugs, with a predominant use of scarlet red and black, balanced by accents of cobalt blue, emerald green, ochre, beige, and even touches of purple. The abrash effect, visible in the variations of red hues, attests to the natural dyeing of the yarns and the skill of the weavers, giving the rug a unique and authentic character.
The rug is framed by a series of complex borders. The main border is black and features a succession of stylized floral and geometric motifs, while the secondary borders include thinner bands with meander or repeated "S" motifs. Every element is carefully woven, revealing the skill and dedication of the weavers.
Entirely handmade with high-quality wool for the pile and cotton for the warp and weft, this rug is not just a decorative object but a textile work of art that carries the history and culture of a millennia-old tradition. It is ideal for enriching living rooms, studies, or bedrooms, offering warmth and a touch of exoticism.
