This textile artwork is an authentic tribal rug, likely of Qashqai manufacture, embodying the rich tradition of Persian knotting. Characterized by a vibrant chromatic palette and a powerful design, this rug is an extraordinary example of nomadic craftsmanship.
The central field is dominated by a deep indigo blue, almost black, serving as a backdrop for an explosion of stylized floral motifs and small scattered geometric shapes, evoking the ancient symbolism of the tribes. At the center stands a majestic stepped medallion, in an intense and vibrant red, with ivory and blue details, immediately capturing attention and acting as the visual focal point of the entire rug.
The main border, also in red, features an intricate pattern of stylized vines and geometric rosettes, framed by smaller ivory and dark blue guard borders that accentuate its complexity. The color variations, typical of hand-knotted tribal rugs, add character and depth, an effect known as 'abrash', a testament to the natural dyeing of the yarns and the skill of the knotter.
This rectangular rug is a testament to history and culture, ideal for adding a touch of authenticity and warmth to any setting, from classic to contemporary.
