This splendid rug, steeped in history and culture, is an authentic example of Persian tribal knotting art. Its surface tells ancient stories through a language of symbols and geometries, typical of the nomadic and rural populations of Iran.
The central field is dominated by a vibrant shade of terracotta red, enriched by subtle color variations, known as abrash, which testify to the use of natural dyes and the craftsmanship of its making. A well-defined geometric medallion stands out in the center, outlined by dark blue contours and filled with stylized designs in beige, green, and light blue.
Around the medallion, the field is populated by a myriad of geometric and stylized motifs: rosettes, hooks, abstract zoomorphic figures, and small tribal elements follow one another in a harmonious and fascinating rhythm. Every detail contributes to creating an all-over design that captures the eye.
The rug is framed by a series of concentric borders. The main border, on a cream background, features a sequence of stylized "S" or "running dog" motifs in red, blue, and green, flanked by thinner secondary borders that echo the colors and geometries of the field. This balance of colors and shapes gives the rug a strong character yet also great versatility, making it suitable for various furnishing styles, from classic to contemporary.
Made with high-quality wool for the pile and cotton for the warp, it guarantees durability and a pleasant tactile feel. A rug that is not just a furnishing accessory, but a piece of history and tradition to admire and live with every day.
