Immerse yourself in the rich artisanal tradition of Afghanistan with this magnificent Kilim. Each piece is a testament to the weavers' skill, who use hand-carded wool to create a rug of extraordinary durability and beauty.
The design of this Kilim stands out for its vibrant central field, composed of a series of large hexagonal medallions. These hexagons, woven in a palette of pastel colors such as light blue, aqua green, soft orange, cream yellow, and mauve, are framed by a light outline that makes them stand out against the warm red-terracotta background. Inside each hexagon and in the surrounding diamonds, intricate tribal geometric motifs are found.
The wide borders enclosing the central field echo and develop the same geometric aesthetic, with rows of octagons and zigzag patterns adding visual depth and rhythm. The flatweave technique reveals the skillful use of abrash, the slight natural color variations of hand-dyed wool, which give the rug an authentic character and a story to tell. With a density ranging between 160,000 and 200,000 knots per square meter and a thickness of 0.3 cm, this Kilim is not just a furnishing element, but a functional work of art, capable of infusing warmth and a refined ethnic touch into any environment, from the living room to the bedroom, or as a hallway runner in spacious corridors.
