This authentic Shiraz rug originates from the historical region of Persia, renowned for its centuries-old weaving tradition. It is an example that embodies the essence of nomadic art, crafted with the knowledge and mastery of local populations.
Made entirely from hand-carded wool, it guarantees exceptional softness and durability, while the cotton warp ensures structural stability. The density of 160,000-200,000 knots per square meter is indicative of careful and lasting craftsmanship, with a thickness of approximately 1 cm giving the rug a robust yet comfortable presence.
The design features a large, lozenge-shaped central medallion on a vibrant deep red field, typical of these artifacts. The black spandrel corners beautifully contrast, framing the inner medallion and decorative elements. The field is densely populated with small, stylized geometric motifs, arranged in an all-over design that harmoniously fills the space. A smaller medallion also graces the center, enriched with intricate figures.
The dominant colors are deep red and black, with accents of beige, green, ocher, and blue enriching the details and multi-layered borders. The abrash effect is evident, lending the rug an authentic character and unique color depth, a testament to natural dyes and artisanal weaving. A work of art that carries the history and warmth of Persian tradition.
