This authentic Shiraz rug, originating from the ancient textile traditions of Persia, is a magnificent example of nomadic craftsmanship. Made with hand-carded wool for the pile and a cotton warp, it offers a robust texture and excellent durability. Its knot density ranges between 160,000 and 200,000 knots per square meter, with a thickness of approximately 1 cm, testifying to the care and mastery in its creation.
The design features an imposing central geometric medallion, which dominates the field with its intricate decorations and deep colors. The field is richly adorned with a myriad of stylized tribal motifs, including animals such as goats and birds, and human figures, all iconic elements that narrate stories of daily life and ancient symbolism of the nomadic tribes. The outer border showcases elegant “tree of life” motifs alternating with geometric bands, creating a harmonious contrast with the central design.
Chromatically, the rug is a triumph of burgundy red in the main field, elegantly balanced by a deep navy blue in the medallion and corner sections. Accents of ivory, green, and light blue enrich the palette, highlighting the details of the motifs. The abrash effect, visible in the slight variations in tone, adds a distinctive character and unmistakable authenticity, a result of natural dyeing and artisanal weaving. This Shiraz is a unique piece, capable of imbuing any environment with warmth and history.
