This exquisite Baluch runner, originating from Persia, is a superb example of nomadic textile art. Meticulously hand-knotted with hand-spun wool on a cotton warp, this runner embodies the tradition and resilience characteristic of rugs created by Baluch tribes.
The central field is adorned with an all-over geometric pattern featuring repeating motifs, often stylized octagons or diamond shapes. The color palette is dominated by deep burgundy red and dark blue, with vibrant accents of burnt orange, terracotta, and beige creating a rich and captivating contrast. The abrash is clearly visible, adding natural variations in hue and an authentic character to each piece.
The borders present a succession of smaller geometric motifs, such as zig-zags and dots, elegantly framing the main design and defining the edges. With a density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of 0.6 cm, this runner is not merely a decorative item but a testament to artisanal skill and durability. A piece that adds warmth, history, and a touch of exoticism to hallways, entryways, or any space desiring a distinctive accent.
