This splendid Shiraz rug, originating from the fertile regions of southern Persia, embodies the rich cultural heritage and artisanal skill of the Qashqai and Khamseh tribes. Entirely hand-knotted, it is a living testament to a millenary tradition, perfect for enriching any room in your home with warmth and history.
The central field is dominated by a deep shade of brick red, enhanced by subtle color variations, known as abrash, which highlight its authenticity and the use of natural dyes. Three large diamond-shaped medallions follow each other along the central axis, standing out with their dark brown, almost black, tones and details in beige and burnt orange. These medallions are finely decorated with star-like and geometric motifs, typical of tribal iconography.
The rug is further enriched by a myriad of small geometric motifs scattered throughout the red field, including stylized animal figures, ancestral symbols, and vegetal patterns. The rich main border, contrasting with the field, features a continuous meander design in dark tones, flanked by thinner secondary borders that elegantly define its structure.
Made from high-quality hand-carded wool, this Shiraz offers a robust weave and exceptional softness to the touch. The cotton warp ensures stability and durability, while the knot density (between 160,000 and 200,000 knots/sqm) attests to the meticulous knotting. With a thickness of approximately 1 cm, it is a solid and comfortable rug, ideal for everyday use and destined to last over time.
A Shiraz is not just a piece of furniture, but a piece of history that carries the soul of nomadic Persia, a work of art that adds character and a warm, inviting atmosphere to any space.
