This magnificent Shiraz rug originates from the ancient textile traditions of Persia, an authentic expression of nomadic art. Crafted from hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, it features a robust and detailed weave, typical of the artifacts from the Qashqai tribes and surrounding regions.
The design is dominated by a large central lozenge medallion of deep cherry red, enriched with striped motifs and serrated edges that create a dynamic and vibrant visual effect. Within the main medallion and at its center, intricate geometric elements can be found. The surrounding dark, almost black field, is populated by a myriad of scattered small geometric motifs, including stylized flowers, animals, and hooks, which tell stories and beliefs of the weaving communities. Four stylized star-like motifs, resembling small suns in ochre yellow and blue, adorn the corners, adding balance to the composition.
Multiple borders masterfully frame the rug, presenting a succession of geometric "S" motifs and stylized rosettes on colorful backgrounds, echoing the rich chromaticity of the interior. The density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of approximately 1 cm attest to the quality and durability of this artifact. The use of natural dyes creates a beautiful abrash effect, which gives the rug a lively and authentic character, making it a unique piece capable of warming the atmosphere of any room.
