This magnificent Ardakan rug, originating from Persia, is a superb example of traditional textile art. Masterfully hand-knotted, it features a robust structure and refined details that tell ancient stories.
Crafted from premium hand-carded wool, the pile offers a soft yet durable texture. The cotton warp ensures stability and longevity. The density of approximately 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm attests to the quality and precision of the knotting, while a thickness of 1 indicates a compact and robust weave. Any presence of abrash, slight natural color variations, adds authenticity and charm.
The rug is dominated by a vibrant, bright red field, serving as a backdrop for an elaborate ogival-shaped central medallion. This medallion, predominantly in shades of midnight blue, cream, and light blue, is finely decorated with stylized floral motifs.
The all-over design is enriched by a myriad of floral motifs, including palmettes, rosettes, and meandering tendrils, which harmoniously fill every space, evoking the image of a lush Persian garden.
The rug is framed by an elegant dark blue main border, also richly decorated with a sequence of cartouches and florets, interspersed with thinner secondary frames that echo the colors and motifs of the field, creating a perfect visual balance. The interplay of red and deep blue, along with touches of cream, gold, and light blue, imbues the rug with an atmosphere of opulence and sophistication, making it an ideal piece to enrich any classic or modern setting with a touch of timeless elegance.
