This piece is a magnificent Kazak rug, originating from the regions of Afghanistan. It is hand-knotted with hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, a combination that ensures softness and durability. Its remarkable density of approximately 100,000-150,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of 1.1 cm attest to the high quality of its artisanal craftsmanship.
The rug features a distinctive geometric design, characterized by a large octagonal central medallion, flanked by smaller motifs distributed harmoniously within the grey-blue field. The border is adorned with an alternation of stylized floral medallions and H-shaped motifs, all outlined by subtle secondary bands. The soft, pastel colors – grey-blue, cream, antique rose, beige, and touches of mint green – are enhanced by the abrash, a natural color variation effect that adds depth and authenticity, lending the room a serene and refined atmosphere. A true gem of Oriental textile artistry.
