This textile masterpiece is a splendid example of a Gorawan rug, originating from ancient Persia. Crafted with hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, it boasts a remarkable knot density of 160,000 to 200,000 knots/sqm, ensuring its durability and sophistication. Its 1 cm thickness provides a pleasant tactile feel and excellent resilience.
The design features a majestic, polylobed central medallion dominating the field, surrounded by stylized floral and geometric motifs. The corner spandrels elegantly echo the medallion, creating a harmonious visual balance. The color palette is vibrant: an intense ruby red for the field, which captures attention, contrasted by dark borders, tending towards midnight blue and black. Details in ivory, light blue, and ochre enrich the composition, highlighting the design's complexity.
The artisanal craftsmanship is evident in the precision of the details and the possible presence of a slight abrash, a distinctive sign of hand-knotted rugs that enhances their authenticity and unique character. A Gorawan rug like this is not just a piece of furniture, but a piece of Persian history and tradition, capable of bringing warmth and prestige to any environment.
