This splendid Gorawan rug, originating from Persia, is an authentic expression of traditional knotting art. Crafted with hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, it boasts a high density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm, ensuring its exceptional robustness and quality of detail.
The design is dominated by a large central geometric medallion that extends across much of the field, characteristic of the Heriz/Serapi style. The angular and stylized motifs, typical of these tribal manufactures, are expertly distributed in both the medallion and the open corner spandrels, creating a powerful and harmonious visual balance. The rich and vibrant color palette is centered on various shades of deep red, intense black, and accents of blue, cream, and burnt earth, often featuring subtle tone variations (abrash) that attest to the use of natural dyes and the uniqueness of each piece.
The rug's frame is composed of a main border that elegantly frames the field, presenting stylized floral and geometric motifs that enhance its depth. This Gorawan is a work of art that carries centuries of tradition and artisanal mastery, capable of transforming any environment into a space of warmth and history.
