This magnificent Ardakan rug, originating from the renowned region of Persia, is a textile work of art that captivates with its beauty and richness of detail. Crafted from high-quality hand-carded wool with a cotton warp, it boasts a density of approximately 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of about 1 cm, which gives it robustness and a pleasant feel.
The central design is dominated by a majestic polygonal medallion, finely decorated with stylized floral motifs, including palmettes, arabesques, and intertwining vines. At the four corners of the vibrant red field, contrasting quarter-medallions (Lachak Toranj) emerge, echoing and amplifying the elegance of the central motif.
The main field, in an intense cardinal red, is skillfully adorned with an all-over design of smaller floral patterns, appearing to bloom from a lush garden. The rich color palette is enhanced by the use of midnight blue, cream, and subtle accents of light blue and yellow, creating a visually impactful harmony. The slight color variation, known as abrash, adds depth and character to the rug, testifying to its artisanal authenticity.
The border consists of several bands: a wide and imposing main border decorated with large palmettes and stylized flowers on a dark background, flanked by smaller borders with more delicate geometric and floral motifs. This Ardakan is a valuable addition to any setting, capable of imbuing warmth, history, and an atmosphere of Persian luxury.
