This splendid Ardakan rug, originating from the historic region of Persia, embodies the elegance and richness of Persian knotting art. Crafted with hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, it features a dense and resilient weave, with an estimated knot density between 160,000 and 200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of approximately 1 cm.
The central field is dominated by a vibrant red color, against which a magnificent polychrome central medallion stands out. This medallion, rich in stylized floral details, harmoniously extends towards four corner spandrels that echo its shape, creating a perfect visual unity. The design is an explosion of floral motifs, with finely delineated arabesques, palmettes, and rosettes filling every space of the field, giving it a lush appearance.
The main border, in a deep dark blue, is also decorated with a succession of stylized floral motifs, framed by thinner secondary borders featuring turquoise and cream details, adding depth and contrast to the entire composition. The choice of colors – vivid red, midnight blue, bright turquoise, and cream accents – creates an atmosphere of warmth and sophistication, making this rug an ideal work of art to enrich any classic or contemporary setting with a touch of Persian exoticism. The exceptional quality of the wool ensures long durability and unparalleled softness.
