This splendid Gorawan rug, originating from Persia, is a textile work of art that embodies centuries of tradition and artisanal mastery. Crafted entirely with hand-carded wool for the pile and a cotton warp, it boasts a remarkable density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of 1 cm, attesting to its robustness and the quality of its materials.
The design is dominated by a large geometric central medallion, characterized by stepped and angular lines, which stands out on a vibrant red field. Around the medallion, the field is finely decorated with a multitude of stylized floral motifs and smaller geometric patterns, arranged with great harmony. The main colors, in addition to the deep red of the field, include an intense navy blue, cream, ochre, and touches of light blue and brown, which blend to create a rich and dynamic visual effect, often highlighted by subtle color variations, the abrash, a distinctive sign of natural dyeing.
The frame is composed of multiple elaborate borders, which elegantly and precisely frame the rug, reflecting the complexity of the all-over design. A Gorawan brings with it an atmosphere of warmth and history, making it an ideal centerpiece for classic environments or for adding a touch of tradition and authenticity to more modern spaces.
