This magnificent Gorawan rug, originating from the Hamadan region of Persia, is an authentic expression of tribal knotting art. Handcrafted from hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, it features a density of approximately 160,000-200,000 knots per square meter and a thickness of 1 cm, which gives it robustness and excellent wear resistance.
The design is dominated by a large central star medallion, characteristic of this type, framed by a field rich in stylized geometric motifs and tribal details. The color palette is warm and inviting, with a vibrant terracotta red as the main color, enriched with cream hues, deep indigo blue, and brown accents. The abrash effect, visible in the tonal variations of red, attests to the use of natural dyes and the uniqueness of each piece.
Elaborate borders complete the rug, echoing the motifs and colors of the field to create visual harmony. A Gorawan is a work of art that combines history and artisanal craftsmanship, capable of imbuing character and warmth into any setting, from the most classic to the most contemporary.
