A magnificent example of a Persian Gorawan rug, masterfully hand-knotted and embodying the rich artisanal tradition of Persia. This rug stands out for its intricate design and vibrant color palette.
The focal point of the design is a central star medallion, highly stylized and geometric, which immediately draws the eye. This medallion is framed by an elaborate border and features intricate internal motifs, reminiscent of abstract shapes and tribal symbols. The main field, in a deep, vibrant red, is elegantly filled with repeated geometric motifs and stylized elements, including stepped diamonds and highly schematized floral patterns. Four corner spandrels, mirroring the medallion's shapes, harmoniously balance the composition.
The color palette is dominated by a cardinal red, enriched with accents of ivory, dark blue, black, and subtle touches of light blue and ocher, creating an appealing and dynamic visual contrast. The abrash, a natural variation in tone, adds character and authenticity to this textile work. A series of borders, featuring meander patterns and smaller geometric motifs, harmoniously frames the main field, completing the robust and traditional aesthetic.
Crafted from high-quality hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, this rug ensures durability and a pleasant tactile feel. Its density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of 1 cm attest to its superior artisanal quality. A textile work of art that brings warmth and a touch of Persian history and culture to any setting.
