This magnificent Gorawan rug, originating from Persia, is an exquisite example of traditional knotting art. Crafted with hand-carded wool for the pile and cotton for the warp, it boasts a density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm, testifying to its robustness and the fineness of its details.
The central field, in a deep and vibrant red, is dominated by a large star-shaped medallion. This central element is beautifully outlined in black and enriched with stylized geometric and floral motifs, typical of the region. The abrash effect, evident in the slight variations of red tones, adds depth and character, narrating the story of natural dyeing and artisanal craftsmanship.
At the four corners of the field, spandrels stand out, echoing the design and colors of the medallion, creating a harmonious visual balance. The main border, in an elegant black, features a succession of rosettes and minute geometric motifs that gracefully frame the entire composition. The contrast between the red of the field and the light cream and beige tones in sections of the medallion and spandrels, along with black accents, creates a powerful and sophisticated visual impact. This rug is a true masterpiece that brings the elegance and richness of Persian tradition into any setting.
