This magnificent Gorawan rug is an authentic expression of Persian textile art, renowned for its robustness and the beauty of its geometric and stylized designs. Originating from the western Persia region, each knot tells a story of tradition and artisanal mastery.
Crafted from high-quality hand-carded wool with a cotton warp, it boasts a density ranging from 160,000 to 200,000 knots per square meter, ensuring exceptional strength and durability. Its 1 cm thickness provides a feeling of solidity and warmth underfoot.
The design is dominated by an impressive central star medallion, rich in geometric details and stylized floral motifs, set against a deep red field exhibiting subtle color variations (abrash), a hallmark of natural dyes. The corners feature quarter medallions that harmoniously complete the composition, while the elaborate border frames the entire piece with sequences of botanical and geometric patterns in shades of midnight blue, cream, and brown. The primary colors—red, dark blue, and ivory—are masterfully balanced to create a vibrant and sophisticated visual impact, typical of tribal and village rugs from this origin.
