From the ancient region of Persia, we present this magnificent Ardakan rug, a work of art that embodies the richness and tradition of hand-knotting. Every Ardakan is a testament to Persian craftsmanship, and this example is no exception.
The rug features an elaborate, complexly shaped central medallion that dominates the field. This medallion is surrounded by a rich floral design, typical of Persian tradition, with stylized palmettes, tendrils, and flowers that extend harmoniously across the entire vibrant red field. The corners of the field partially echo the medallion's design, creating a balanced and refined visual effect. Predominant colors include vibrant red, deep navy blue, bright cream, and touches of light blue and ochre, which together create a striking chromatic harmony.
The border is multi-layered, with a wide main band decorated by a continuous motif of rosettes and leaves, flanked by smaller bands with stylized geometric and floral designs, elegantly framing the central field.
This Ardakan rug is crafted from high-quality hand-carded wool, giving it exceptional softness and durability. The cotton warp ensures a solid and long-lasting structure. The knot density, ranging between 160,000 and 200,000 knots per square meter, testifies to the fineness and complexity of the work. The thickness of approximately 1 cm provides a pleasant underfoot feel and excellent resistance to wear.
An Ardakan is more than just a rug; it is a piece of history and culture, capable of transforming any environment, imbuing it with warmth, elegance, and an exotic touch. The presence of slight color variations, known as "abrash," is a distinctive characteristic of hand-knotted rugs, enhancing their authenticity and artisanal charm.
