This magnificent Gorawan rug, originating from Persia, is a splendid example of ancient Persian knotting art. Its tribal aesthetic and geometric motifs tell tales of tradition and craftsmanship.
At the center of the rug, a striking multi-layered geometric medallion stands out, designed with precision and vibrancy, where scarlet red and indigo blue blend harmoniously with touches of ivory and gold. This central element is the pulsating heart of the design, immediately captivating the eye.
The field, predominantly red with subtle color variations due to abrash, is densely populated with an intricate all-over design of stylized motifs. Delicate animal forms, floral figures, and geometric symbols can be recognized, all executed with great skill, lending depth and dynamism to the entire composition.
The complex border structure, featuring a main indigo blue band richly adorned with repeating floral and geometric motifs, perfectly frames the field, enhancing its colors and forms. Thinner guard stripes also display elegant decorations that complete the ensemble.
Crafted from hand-spun wool with a cotton warp, this rug boasts a density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of approximately 1 cm, testifying to its robustness and the quality of its materials. A Gorawan is a lasting investment that adds warmth and authenticity to any setting, from classic to contemporary.
