This magnificent Ardakan rug, originating from the renowned Persian region, is a classic example of Persian knotting artistry. Characterized by a vibrant red field, it is adorned with a large dark blue and cream central medallion, surrounded by an elaborate design of floral motifs.
The richness of the design extends across the entire surface, with stylized palmettes, rosettes, and flowering tendrils creating an atmosphere of timeless elegance. The corner spandrels, distinctive elements of this style, echo the medallion's motifs, harmoniously balancing the composition.
The main border, in an intense midnight blue, is decorated with a sequence of interconnected cartouches and palmettes, flanked by minor guard borders that complete the masterpiece. The artisanal skill is evident in the quality of the hand-carded wool used, with a cotton warp ensuring robustness and durability.
With a density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of approximately 1 cm, this rug offers a pleasant texture and remarkable resilience. Every detail, from weaving to coloring, testifies to the centuries-old tradition of Ardakan rug production. The possible presence of abrash, slight variations in tone, adds a touch of authenticity and unique charm.
