This splendid Ardakan rug, originating from the renowned region of Persia, embodies the elegance and richness of Eastern textile art. It is a work of art hand-knotted with mastery, using hand-carded wool for the pile and a sturdy cotton warp, ensuring durability and a luxurious feel underfoot.
The design is distinguished by its classic lobed central medallion, which dominates the field with its complex beauty in dark blue tones and lighter details, creating a magnetic focal point. The main field, a vibrant intense red, is densely adorned with an all-over floral design, including stylized palmettes, lotus flowers, and delicate intertwining vines that harmonize beautifully. The corners, or spandrels, echo the shape and color of the medallion, completing the composition with balance.
The main border, in a deep dark blue, is decorated with a continuous and stylized floral motif, flanked by several thinner guard borders that add depth and elegantly define the design. The subtle color variations in the red field, known as abrash, attest to the artisanal nature of the dyeing process and add a unique, authentic character to the rug.
With a density of approximately 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of 1 cm, this Ardakan is not merely a decorative element, but a piece of history and tradition that will enhance any room, imbuing it with an atmosphere of warmth and sophistication.
