This magnificent Persian Ardakan rug, hailing from the renowned region of Persia, embodies the classic elegance of oriental weaving art. Its composition is a triumph of detail, with a robust cotton warp supporting a dense weave of hand-carded wool, ensuring durability and a unique softness underfoot.
The central design is dominated by a stylized medallion, typical of Persian tradition, enriched with pendants extending towards the field. This is surrounded by an elaborate all-over floral design, where motifs of palmettes, rosettes, and flowering vines intertwine harmoniously. The corners feature elegant quarter-medallions (spandrels) that echo the central motif, creating visual unity.
The color palette is rich and vibrant: a deep red dominates the field, providing a warm and inviting background, while midnight blue stands out in the medallion and main border, creating a sophisticated contrast. Accents of light blue, cream, and golden details complete the design, adding depth and luminosity. Authenticity is highlighted by slight color variations, known as abrash, which testify to the artisanal nature of the dyeing process.
With a density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of 1 cm, this Ardakan rug is not merely a furnishing item but a textile work of art that carries centuries of history and artisanal mastery. Its presence is capable of transforming the atmosphere of any room, imparting a touch of luxury and tradition.
