This Ardakan rug, hand-knotted in Persia, is a textile masterpiece that captures attention with its rich colors and traditional design. Its origin from one of the most renowned rug-producing regions guarantees a piece of high artisanal quality.
The central field is dominated by a vibrant ruby red, a color that conveys warmth and energy. Upon this background, an elaborate all-over floral design unfolds, composed of finely detailed curvilinear motifs such as palmettes, rosettes, and flowering tendrils, distributed with harmony and precision. Each element contributes to creating a lavish and inviting atmosphere.
At the center stands out a dark medallion, rhomboid in shape, which hosts within it a smaller, more refined design in light shades of blue and ivory. This medallion is surrounded by a repeating cartouche, also rich in floral details in dark blue, beige, and light blue tones. The field corners feature quarter medallions, echoing the central motif and elegantly framing the entire composition.
The main border, in an intense midnight blue, is adorned with a sequence of cartouches and stylized floral motifs, also richly decorated with small flowers and leaves. It is flanked by thin secondary borders that use "dentil" or "ribbon" motifs with small flowers, in light and sky blue tones, adding depth and further defining the design with grace.
Crafted with hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, this rug features a high density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of 1 cm, ensuring robustness and a pleasant tactile sensation. The presence of a slight abrash lends the rug an authentic artisanal beauty and unique character, highlighting the natural nuances of the dye and attesting to its traditional craftsmanship. An Ardakan rug is an investment in beauty and history.
