This magnificent Nadjafabad rug, originating from Persia, embodies the quintessential art of oriental weaving. Crafted with hand-carded wool, it boasts an exceptional density of approximately 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm, testifying to its artisanal mastery and durability. Its thickness of 1.2 cm makes it both robust and comfortable underfoot.
The heart of the rug is dominated by a large central medallion, richly decorated with stylized floral motifs, standing out against a vibrant scarlet red field. The corner spandrels, quarter-medallion elements, harmoniously complete the design, reflecting the complexity and balance typical of Persian masterpieces. The entire field is punctuated by an all-over design of delicate florets, leaves, and tendrils, creating an atmosphere of a lush Persian garden.
The main border, in a deep navy blue, hosts a succession of palmettes and rosettes, elegantly framing the central field. The secondary borders, with their more minute motifs and lighter shades, add an additional layer of detail and complexity. The skillful use of colors such as red, blue, cream, light blue, and touches of gold, gives the rug unique depth and vibrancy. Possible slight color variations, known as "abrash", are an inherent characteristic of hand-knotted rugs and enhance their authenticity and charm.
A Nadjafabad rug is much more than just a piece of furniture; it is a work of art that adds warmth, character, and history to any space, from classic to contemporary. Its extraordinary quality and timeless appeal make it a precious investment destined to last for generations, bringing a touch of opulence and Persian tradition to your home.
