This superb Ardakan rug, originating from Persia, embodies the rich tradition of weaving art. Its design is dominated by a magnificent, beautifully detailed central medallion, standing out against a deep and vibrant red field. Surrounding the medallion, the entire rug is embellished with an elaborate floral design, featuring palmettes, boteh motifs, and arabesques that gracefully intertwine.
The borders, also richly decorated with floral and minor geometric patterns, frame the central field, adding depth and complexity to the overall design. The color combination, with dark blue and cream balancing the dominant red, creates a striking visual harmony. A subtle abrash can be observed, a hallmark of hand-knotted rugs, adding character and authenticity.
Crafted with hand-carded wool for the pile and cotton for the warp, this Ardakan boasts a density of approximately 160,000-200,000 knots per square meter and a thickness of 1 cm. These technical characteristics ensure its robustness and durability, making it a functional work of art capable of enhancing any environment with its timeless beauty.
