This magnificent rug, originating from the renowned city of Mashad in Persia, is a splendid example of traditional Persian textile art. Crafted with hand-carded wool and a cotton warp, it boasts a density of 160,000-200,000 knots per square meter and a thickness of 1.1 cm, ensuring robustness and a pleasant feel.
The design is a timeless classic: an elaborate central medallion, predominantly in shades of midnight blue and black, stands out against a field of intense ruby red. The rest of the field is richly decorated with an all-over floral design, composed of sinuous arabesques, stylized palmettes, rosettes, and leaves, which develop harmoniously with touches of light blue, beige, and gold/brown details. The majestic multiple border completes the work, featuring a series of elegant boteh (paisley) motifs alternated with flowers and tendrils.
This Mashad rug is a work of art that infuses warmth and sophistication into any environment. Its vibrant coloring and intricate design make it perfect for both classic settings, where it enhances existing decor, and more contemporary spaces, to which it adds a touch of history and grandeur.
