This Gorawan rug, originating from Persia, is a magnificent example of traditional textile art. Crafted with hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, it boasts a density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of 1 cm, attesting to its robustness and the fineness of its execution.
The classic central medallion design is the visual focal point of the rug. A large geometric medallion, often interpreted as a star, dominates the intense red field. The corner spandrels elegantly mirror parts of the medallion, creating a harmonious balance. The field is richly decorated with an all-over design of stylized floral motifs and geometric shapes, typical of the Persian tradition.
The color palette is vibrant and sophisticated: a deep brick red forms the background, accented by details in indigo blue, cream, light blue, and shades of brown. The use of abrash, a natural variation in wool color tones, adds depth and character, giving the rug a lively and authentic soul.
The border, composed of multiple bands, elegantly frames the rug, featuring geometric and floral motifs that complement the central design. This Gorawan is not just a rug, but a piece of Persian history and culture, capable of enriching the atmosphere of any room with its timeless charm.
