This magnificent Lori rug, originating from Persia, is an authentic expression of nomadic knotting art. Crafted with hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, it boasts a density of approximately 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of 1.2 cm, ensuring durability and comfort. Its composition is a tribute to the tradition of the Lori shepherds, who have passed down unique weaving techniques for centuries.
The central design is dominated by three large geometric diamond-shaped medallions, stacked vertically. These medallions, with their intricate details, are framed by a dark, almost black field, which enhances the depth of the burgundy color. The field is dotted with small stylized motifs and tribal symbols that tell stories of daily life and ancestral beliefs. The border features a lighter, cream-colored band, upon which a chain pattern with stylized figures unwinds, creating a captivating visual contrast.
The use of natural dyes is evident in the harmony of colors, with shades of burgundy, brick red, and touches of cream and dark blue emerging from the dark background. The abrash effect, resulting from the natural color variations of hand-dyed wool, adds a touch of authenticity and ancient charm to this piece, making it unique and vibrant. A Lori rug is not just a decorative item, but a textile work of art that carries the soul and history of its people.
