This magnificent Ardakan rug, originating from Persia, is an exquisite example of traditional knotting art. Featuring a vibrant red field, its heart is adorned with a large blue central medallion, surrounded by an elaborate all-over design of stylized floral motifs, typical of high-quality Persian rugs.
The details are finely executed, with palmettes, leaves, and vines intertwining harmoniously, creating a sense of depth and movement. The multiple borders echo the floral themes of the field, with a main band decorated with a succession of flowers and arabesques on a blue background, and framed by thinner strips.
Made of hand-carded wool with a cotton warp, this rug features a high knot density, between 160,000 and 200,000 knots/sqm, ensuring its strength and durability over time, despite its contained thickness of 1 cm. Slight color variations, known as abrash, attest to the handcrafted nature and add a touch of authenticity and charm. An Ardakan is the ideal choice for those seeking a timeless piece of history and beauty.
