This magnificent rug originates from the renowned city of Ardakan, located in the historical region of Persia. A symbol of an ancient manufacturing tradition, it is expertly woven using hand-carded wool, with a cotton warp that ensures robustness and durability. Its high density of 160.000-200.000 knots/sqm and a thickness of 1 cm attest to the fineness and quality of its craftsmanship.
The rug's main field is dominated by a vibrant shade of red, which serves as a backdrop for an elaborate floral design. Delicate motifs such as palmettes, rosettes, sinuous vines, and stylized flowers are arranged with great harmony. A prominent central medallion of ogival shape stands out, characterized by elegant tones of dark blue, light blue, and beige, creating a captivating visual contrast.
The rug's border is equally rich, composed of a main border in dark blue, decorated with complex stylized 'Herati' or 'Shah Abbasi' motifs, flanked by secondary stripes that echo the colors and themes of the field. The entire composition expresses timeless elegance and a sumptuous atmosphere, making this Ardakan a piece of furniture of great value and beauty. Slight color variations, known as abrash, may be present, adding character and authenticity to the work.
